Privacy Policy for Daily Bible Verse

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the app:

Account Information

• Email address (from Sign in with Apple or Google)
• A unique account identifier

If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email," we only receive the private relay address.

App Data

• Favorite verses and reading history
• Prayer requests ("prayer points") you create
• Notification and display preferences

Usage & Diagnostic Data

• Anonymized app usage, device type, and crash information (via Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics) to improve reliability

Technical Services

Daily Bible Verse uses trusted third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Analytics, to securely store and sync your data.
• OpenAI — to automatically screen submitted prayer requests for policy compliance. When you submit a prayer request, its text is sent to OpenAI's service to check that it is appropriate before it is shared. In accordance with OpenAI's API policies, this content is not used to train their models.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate and manage your account
• Show your daily verse and sync favorites and history across devices
• Deliver the daily verse and prayer reminders you enable
• Power the chain prayer feature
• Automatically screen submitted prayer requests and review reported content to keep the community safe
• Maintain, secure, and improve the app

We do not sell your personal data and do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. Sharing & Visibility

• Prayer requests are shared anonymously — your identity as the person who created a request is never shown to anyone.
• Each prayer request is allotted to other signed-in users so they can pray for it. Requests are not posted publicly or browsable by everyone.
• Please avoid including sensitive personal information in prayer requests. You can delete your own prayer requests at any time.
• Your favorites and reading history are private to your account.

Daily Bible Verse uses Firebase (Google) services to process and store data. These providers may process technical data required for hosting, authentication, syncing, and security.

Automated moderation. To keep the community safe, every submitted prayer request is automatically screened for appropriate content (using OpenAI's service) before it can be shared. Users can report a prayer request they are praying for, and our administrators review reported content and may remove it. Repeated violations of our community guidelines may result in a warning or removal from the chain prayer feature.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

• You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app.
• Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and your stored favorites, history, and prayer entries.

Some anonymized diagnostic data may be retained as required for security and analytics.

5. Security

We use secure authentication and database rules to protect your data. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access.

6. Children's Privacy & Your Choices

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

You can:
